After completing the first circuit of the globe, this year the Automotive Simulation World Congress (ASWC) 2015 returns to Detroit. The conference is now exactly two weeks away — to be held on June 2 and 3 — and I am really excited about it. If you haven’t registered and reserved your seat, please take a moment to register. You don’t want to miss this great event. And if you don’t know what it’s all about, read on for more information.

ASWC 2003-2009

From 2003 through 2009, ANSYS and its subsidiary Fluent Inc, used to conduct a conference focused on the automotive industry, called the European Automotive Simulation Conference held in different European cities, once every two years. The conference was highly successful in bringing together the European automotive simulation community for effective exchange of information, advances, and simulation best practices.

When I took over the role of automotive industry leader at ANSYS in 2010, I envisioned the need to bring together the automotive simulation community from not only a single region such as Europe, but from around the entire World, in a common conference. The automotive industry is one of the most globalized industries in the World and clearly there was a need to cross leverage best practices and simulation advances that were happening in all major global automotive hubs.

Hence, we launched the Automotive Simulation World Congress (ASWC) — a global conference of the automotive simulation community. It was to be held annually in rotation between the three major regions of the world — Americas, Europe and Asia. After much preparation, the first ASWC was held in Detroit in 2012. It was an immediate success, as I wrote in a blog following the conference.

ASWC 2013 – 2014

From there the conference set out on its journey around the world. The 2013 conference was held in Frankfurt and the 2014 event was in Tokyo. The conference has been a huge success. In its first circuit around the world from 2012 through 2014, 175 presentation were delivered at the ASWC by many dozens of companies that included 7 of the top 10 global automotive OEMs and presenters from all of the top 11 global automotive countries. A total of over 1000 simulation specialists, managers and executives attended the conferences from over 400 different companies, organizations and universities.

This year the ASWC is packed with 72 talks delivered by presenters from 10 countries around the world from companies such as GM, Ford, Fiat-Chrysler, Ferrari, Nissan, Volvo Cars, Cummins, Navistar, TRW, Remy, and many others. The two-day conference will have a keynote plenary session on each day morning followed by four parallel tracks in the afternoon focused on Powertrain, Body & Interior, Chassis, and Electrification & Electronics. The keynotes include:

In addition to the opportunity to hear from such simulation thought leaders, the best thing that I like about the conference is getting to meet a lot of people. Networking opportunities abound as this conference is the gathering spot for the world’s best automotive simulation minds. We are expecting over 350 attendees at the upcoming conference, and I am personally looking forward to meet every one. I am looking forward to meet you at ASWC 2015!
